The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have recalled 6-1, 180-lb center Ben Holmstrom from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, according to General Manager Paul Holmgren.  Holmstrom will wear #34 and will be available to make his NHL debut tonight when the Flyers host the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Holmstrom, 23 (4/9/1987), has posted 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points while appearing in all 60 games for the Phantoms this season, the only player on the roster to do so.  His most recent goal, in the third period of Sunday’s game vs. Binghamton, broke a 2-2 tie en route to a 5-2 win over the Senators.

A native of Colorado Springs, CO, Holmstrom signed with the Flyers as a free agent on March 17, 2010 as he wrapped up his senior season at U-Mass Lowell.  In four years there, Holmstrom posted 26 goals and 58 assists for 84 points in 144 games, along with 201 penalty minutes.
