(Pittsburgh, PA) - Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren spoke to the media on Sunday morning regarding unrestricted free agent center Peter Forsberg. Below is a transcript of Holmgren’s media availability.
Paul Holmgren: "We seem to be spending a lot of time talking about Peter, but until we actually know he is coming back to the NHL, it is sort of a moot point. I am still not convinced that he is coming back to the NHL. A lot of people seem to think that he is coming to the Flyers, but I certainly don't feel that way. I think we are one of a number of teams, but some of these people seem to think that they know something that we don't know."
Q: Do you have any indications that he won't come to Philadelphia? PH: "Other than the fact that we have not gotten a call and other teams did (saying that Forsberg isn't interested in playing for them)…well that leaves us in the game, I guess. We will see. But he still has to cross the one hurdle of actually making the decision to come back.”
Q: Did you get a call on Friday from his agent, Don Baizley? PH: "Yes, and he said that Peter would not be making a decision for another week or so." Q: Does that bother you? PH: "Not really. He has a big decision to make, so he needs a little more time."
