by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers

Polls are open for the second semifinals in the 2015-16 Highlight of the Year Tournament as Jakub Voracek’s incredible effort and top shelf goal in overtime against the team atop the NHL standings faces off against a Flyers prospect great play to earn his first NHL goal.

HIGHLIGHT #1: JAN. 27 at Washington Capitals

In a 1-on-1 battle with Evgeny Kuznetsov, Jakub Voracek takes matters into his own hands as he fights off the Caps forward on both sides of the ice and underneath the goal line. Swinging around, behind the net and to the left side of the ice, Voracek shields the puck from Kuznetsov, spins around into a shooting position and fires a shot top-shelf over Braden Holtby to give the Flyers a 4-3 overtime win.

HIGHLIGHT #2: FEB. 11 vs. Buffalo Sabres

Having been recently recalled to the Flyers, forward Nick Cousins makes a great play to steal the puck in the defensive zone by blocking a slap shot at the point from Sabres right wing Justin Bailey, who had trouble handling the puck after it deflected back to him. Cousins poked the puck past Bailey and raced after it in open ice before blasting a slap shot from the top of the circle to beat Sabres goalie Robin Lehner for his first NHL goal.
