Highlight of the Year: Quarterfinal #3

by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers

With the first semifinal set in stone, this week’s vote will determine which highlights will fill out the bottom portion of the 2015-16 Highlight of the Year Tournament bracket.

Monday’s vote kicks off with a pair of incredible individual efforts, both from the team’s star forwards and both coming on the road.

HIGHLIGHT #1: NOV. 2 at Vancouver Canucks

Trailing 1-0 in the first of the Flyers western Canada road trip, the first highlight sees Claude Giroux neck-and-neck with Canucks d-man, Matt Bartkowski, entering the Vancouver zone. Giroux eventually overpowers him while cutting to the net and with Bartkowski still close behind, Giroux goes forehand-backhand, top-shelf over Ryan Miller to draw the Flyers even at 1-1 in the second period.

HIGHLIGHT #2: JAN. 27 at Washington Capitals

Our second highlight sees forward Jakub Voracek taking matters into his own hands in overtime. In a 1-on-1 battle with Caps forward Evgeny Kuznetsov, Voracek fights him off on both sides of the ice and underneath the goal line. Swinging around, behind the net and to the left side of the ice, Voracek shields the puck from Kuznetsov, spins around into a shooting position and fires a shot top-shelf over Braden Holtby to give the Flyers a 4-3 overtime win.

Watch each highlight below and vote an unlimited amount of times for which one you want to advance to the semifinals. Polls close at 10 a.m. on Wednesday with the winner being revealed shortly afterwards.
