MacEwen, 26 (7/8/1996), recently completed his first season with the Flyers after he was acquired by the team off waivers from the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 13, 2021. He recorded nine points (3g-6a) in 75 games and reached career highs in points (9) and more than doubled his career-best in games played (75).
At the end of the 2021-22 campaign, he was named the winner of the Gene Hart Memorial Award, which is given to the player who demonstrated the most "Heart" during the season as voted on by members of the Fan Club at their monthly meetings.
Prior to joining the Flyers, MacEwen spent parts of four seasons in the Canucks organization where he posted nine points (6g-3a) in 55 career regular season games. He also appeared in six Stanley Cup playoff games with Vancouver in the 2020 postseason bubble in Edmonton.
The 6-3, 205-pound forward played three seasons for Vancouver's American Hockey League affiliate, the Utica Comets, from 2017-18 to 2019-20 where he recorded 96 points (37g-59a) in 155 regular season games.
A native of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, MacEwen spent three seasons of junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Moncton Wildcats (2014-15 to 2015-16) and Gatineau Olympiques (2016-17) where he recorded 116 points (42g-74a) in 141 regular season games and an additional 21 points (12g-9a) in 33 postseason games.
