Flyers sign D Yegor Zamula to entry-level contract

Defenseman on ATO at Camp inks deal, loaned to WHL

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today they have signed defenseman Yegor Zamula (EE-gore, zah-MOO-lah) to an entry-level contract and have assigned him to the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League, according to general manager Ron Hextall.

DRAFTED: Undrafted in 2018 NHL Entry Draft

TEAM/LEAGUE: Calgary Hitmen (WHL)

AGE: 18 (3-30-2000)

BORN: Chelyabinsk, Russia

VITALS: 6'3", 160 pounds


* Zamula was invited to Flyers rookie and main training camp on an ATO (Amateur Try-Out) and appeared in the Flyers-Islanders rookie game on Sept. 12, as well as two official preseason games.

* Zamula logged 18:35 of ice time in the Flyers' 3-1 win vs. Islanders on Sept. 17, where he also registered one shot and 14:47 in the club's 6-4 win over the Rangers at MSG on Sept. 19. 

* He represented Russia at the U-18 World Junior Tournament where he had two points (1g-1a) and a +5 rating in five games.

* He split his first junior season in the WHL with the Regina Pats (7a in 38gp) and Calgary Hitmen (11pts, 2g-9a in 31gp).
