NEWARK, N.J. – Tyler Goulbourne earned an interesting nickname from the Flyers scouting staff.
“They called him ‘Z2,’” said Paul Holmgren. “He plays just like Zac.”
Of course, he was talking about Zac Rinaldo, the Flyers bowling ball and agitator on the ice.
Goulbourne, 19, a left wing on the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL, was selected by the Flyers in the third round, No. 72 overall, in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
In 84 games for the Rockets, Goulbourne had 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points and 135 penalty minutes.
International Scouting Service comments on Goulbourne are:
-Gritty, hard working
-Willing to go through a wall
-Works hard up and down the ice
-Teammates love him
-Willingness to block shots
-Great character leader
-Tough and respected
Goulbourne was not at the draft.
