Rookies prepare for game against Islanders

Roster and lineup information as Flyers depart for Long Island

by Flyers Staff @NHLFlyers /

The Flyers bus departed for Long Island approximately 1 p.m. today as on-ice sessions at Rookie Camp concluded with a morning skate that saw the rookies prepare for an exhibition game against the New York Islanders rookies at 6 p.m. tonight.

Lehigh Valley Phantoms assistant coaches Riley Cote and Kerry Huffman will manage the bench that will have a slightly different look based on some roster changes.

Flyers 36th overall pick this past summer, forward Pascal Laberge, will not play in the game due to slight injury. Although he has been participating in camp, defenseman Philippe Myers will also not be in action tonight. General Manager Ron Hextall said Myers could play tonight, but needs a few more days in his rehab from summer surgery.

Stepping in for Laberge will be third year pro Taylor Leier, who participated in the morning skate with the group. Leier was taking line rushes with the Russian pair of Radel Fazleev and Roman Lyubimov.

With only two goaltenders at camp, both Alex Lyon and Carter Hart will split duties with Lyon expected to get the start.

Among the 20-man roster, 14 players will be participating in a rookie game for the first time with the Flyers, including four of the six defensemen and both goalies. Below is the Flyers roster for the game:
