(October 24, 2006) - The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have recalled 6'2", 190-pound left wing Triston Grant from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, according to Interim General Manager Paul Holmgren. Grant has been assigned uniform number #52.
In addition, the Flyers announced that defenseman Nolan Baumgartner was assigned to the Phantoms.
Grant, 22, was scoreless with 40 penalty minutes in six games for the Phantoms this season. His 40 penalty minutes rank first on the team. A native of Neepawa, Manitoba, Grant recorded two goals and three assists for five points and 190 penalty minutes in 64 regular season games for the Phantoms last season.
Over parts of five seasons in the Western Hockey League with Lethbridge and Vancouver, Grant recorded 52 goals and 35 assists for 87 points and 898 penalty minutes in 291 career games. He registered 20 goals and 12 assists for 32 points and 193 penalty minutes in 70 regular season games for the Vancouver Giants during the 2004-05 season. His 193 penalty minutes were second on the team and he won the Giants' Inspirational Leader Award for the 2004-05 season. He led Vancouver in penalty minutes for the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons. His 267 penalty minutes during the 2003-04 season were second in the WHL.
Grant was selected by the Flyers in the ninth round (286th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Baumgartner posted an assist and 21 penalty minutes in six games for the Flyers this season.
