(December 15) - The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have recalled 6'2", 205-pound right wing Darren Reid and 6'5", 220-pound defenseman David Printz from the Philadelphia Phantoms, according to General Manager Paul Holmgren. Reid has been assigned uniform number #26 and Printz has been assigned uniform number #37.
In addition, the team announced that goaltender Martin Houle was reassigned to the Phantoms.
Reid, 23, registered two goals and three assists for five points and eight penalty minutes in 12 games for the Phantoms this season. He was acquired by the Flyers from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Daniel Corso on November 9, 2006. In 10 games this season for the Lightning's AHL affiliate, the Springfield Falcons, Reid posted a goal and five penalty minutes.
A native of Lac La Biche, Alberta, Reid posted an assist in seven games for the Lightning during the 2005-06 season. Reid recorded eight goals and nine assists for 17 points and 59 penalty minutes in 50 games for the Falcons during the 2005-06 season.
Over the last three seasons with Springfield and the Phantoms, Reid has recorded 14 goals and 31 assists for 45 points and 171 penalty minutes in 128 regular season AHL games. He joined the Falcons after playing three seasons for the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League (2001-02 through 2003-04). Reid posted 55 goals and 87 assists for 142 points and 427 penalty minutes in 167 regular season WHL games with the Tigers. He was drafted by the Lightning in the eighth round (256th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Reid recorded 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points and 31 penalty minutes in 20 playoff games as Medicine Hat won the 2004 WHL Championship. His 13 playoff goals led the WHL.
Printz, 26, recorded three goals and six assists for nine points and 42 penalty minutes in 24 games for the Phantoms this season.
He was scoreless in one regular season game for the Flyers last season. Printz registered six goals and 14 assists for 20 points and 135 penalty minutes in 80 regular season games for the Phantoms during the 2005-06 season.
A native of Solna, Sweden, Printz was drafted by the Flyers in seventh round (225th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Houle allowed one goal on three shots faced in 2:12 minutes played at Pittsburgh on Wednesday, his only career NHL game. In 10 games for the Phantoms this season, Houle has registered a 5-4-0 record, .893 save percentage and 3.67 GAA.
