Flyers Recall Jussi Timonen

(January 9) - The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have recalled 6'0", 200-pound defenseman Jussi Timonen (YU-see TEEM-oh-nehn) from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, according to General Manager Paul Holmgren. Timonen has been assigned uniform number #46 and will be available for tonight's Flyers-Washington Capitals game at the Verizon Center (CW Philly 57 and 610 WIP, starting at 7:00 p.m.).

Joni Pitkanen is out for tonight's game with the flu.

Timonen, 23, has posted four assists and four penalty minutes in 13 games for the Flyers this season after being recalled for the first time on November 20. He reassigned to the Phantoms on December 29. He recorded two goals and eight assists for 10 points and four penalty minutes in 22 games for the Phantoms this season. He posted seven assists and 30 penalty minutes in 52 games for SaiPa (Finland) last season. He was drafted by the Flyers in fifth round (146th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
