(December 12) - The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have recalled 5'11", 205-pound right wing Niko Dimitrakos (DIH-mih-tra-kohs) and 6'1", 200-pound defenseman Lars Jonsson from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, according to General Manager Paul Holmgren. Dimitrakos has been assigned uniform number #15, while Jonsson will wear uniform number #43. Both players will be available for tonight's Flyers-NY Rangers game at the Wachovia Center (Comcast SportsNet and 610 WIP at 7:00 p.m.).
In addition, the Flyers announced that center Petr Nedved was reassigned to the Phantoms.
Dimitrakos, 27, was scoreless with four penalty minutes in two games for the Flyers this season. He recorded four goals and seven assists for 11 points and 18 penalty minutes in 18 games for the Phantoms this season.
In 21 regular season games for the Flyers over parts of the last two seasons, Dimitrakos has posted nine points (5G,4A) and 10 penalty minutes. Over parts of four NHL seasons with the San Jose Sharks (2002-03 to 2005-06) and the Flyers, Dimitrakos has registered 24 goals and 38 assists for 62 points and 93 penalty minutes in 155 regular season NHL games.
He was acquired by the Flyers from the Sharks in exchange for a third round pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft on March 9, 2006.
Jonsson, 24, has recorded two assists and six penalty minutes in six games for the Flyers this season. He has also registered a goal and seven assists for eight points and six penalty minutes in 11 games for the Phantoms this season. He missed the first eight games of the season due to a high right ankle sprain.
A native of Borlange, Sweden, Jonsson was signed as a free agent by the Flyers on July 1, 2006.
Nedved recorded a goal and six assists for seven points and 18 penalty minutes in 21 games for the Flyers this season.
