Flyers Recall Defenseman Jussi Timonen

(November 20) - The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have recalled 6'0", 200-pound defenseman Jussi Timonen (YU-see TEEM-oh-nehn) from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, according to General Manager Paul Holmgren. Timonen has been assigned uniform number #46 and will be available for tonight's Flyers-Penguins game at the Wachovia Center.

In addition, the team announced that they have reassigned center Ryan Potulny to the Phantoms.

Timonen, 23, recorded two goals and six assists for eight points and four penalty minutes in 17 games for the Phantoms this season. He posted seven assists and 30 penalty minutes in 52 games for SaiPa (Finland) last season. He was drafted by the Flyers in fifth round (146th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Potulny, 22, was scoreless in two games for the Flyers this season. He had registered two goals and two assists for four points and eight penalty minutes in eight games for the Phantoms this season.
