Flyers Recall Danny Syvret

by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have recalled defenseman Danny Syvret under emergency conditions from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, according to club general manager Paul Holmgren. He has been assigned uniform #26.

Syvret, 23, has 11 goals and 37 assists for 48 points and 42 penalty minutes in 65 games with the Phantoms this season. His 48 points places him third on the team in scoring (most among defenseman) as well as second in the AHL in scoring by a defenseman.

The Millgrove, Ontario native represented the Phantoms on the Canadian squad in the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic, and he was named as the Phantoms Toyota Player of the Month for October.

In 26 career NHL games over parts of two seasons with the Edmonton Oilers (2005-06 and 2006-07), Syvret has one assist and 12 penalty minutes.

Syvret was acquired by the Flyers from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for forward Ryan Potulny on June 6, 2008.
