Flyers Reassign Defenseman Randy Jones

The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have reassigned 6'2", 200-pound defenseman Randy Jones to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, according to General Manager Bob Clarke.

Jones, 24, has recorded eight assists and 16 penalty minutes in 27 games for the Flyers this season. In 13 games for the Phantoms, Jones has posted two assists and 40 penalty minutes. He missed 21 games, from November 11 through December 28, recovering from an abdominal injury. He has appeared in 32 career NHL games over two seasons with the Flyers (2003-04 and 2005-06), recording eight assists.

In parts of three seasons with the Phantoms (2003-04 through 2005-06), Jones has registered 13 goals and 45 assists for 58 points and 135 penalty minutes in 137 regular season games. He posted five assists and 10 penalty minutes in 18 playoff games as the Phantoms won the 2005 Calder Cup Championship.

A native of Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Jones was signed as a free agent by the Flyers on July 24, 2003.
