The Philadelphia Flyers have re-signed 6-1, 195-lb defenseman Brandon Manning to a one-year contract extension, according to GM Ron Hextall.
Manning, 24 (6-4-1990), will embark on his fifth season in the Flyers organization. He has appeared in 10 games for the Flyers this season, recording three assists and a plus-3 rating. He has also appeared in 58 games for the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, where he recorded 11 goals and 32 assists for 43 points and was named an AHL All-Star for the second time in his career.
Manning has appeared in a total of 20 games with the Flyers, including four in 2011-12 and six in 2012-13. His Phantoms career has spanned 242 games over four seasons (2011-12 through 2014-15), during which time he’s recorded 31 goals and 83 assists for 114 points while accruing 597 PIM.
Manning originally signed with the Flyers as a free agent on November 23, 2010, and joined the organization prior to the 2011-12 season following the completion of his junior career with the Chilliwack Bruins of the Western Hockey League.
