The Philadelphia Flyers will welcome 34 prospects to the Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone for on-ice workouts at the team’s 2016 Development Camp beginning on Thursday, July 7, according to general manager Ron Hextall.
The camp will be overseen by Flyers player development coaches John Riley and Kjell Samuelsson.
Following a day of off-ice fitness testing and orientation, the camp attendees will be on the ice for five days before heading to Stone Harbor for the team’s annual Trial on the Isle on Tuesday, July 12. Specific details and schedule information for this year’s Trial on the Isle will be released tomorrow.
The ice schedule, which is subject to change, is identical for the first four days of the camp. All on-ice sessions are free and open to the public.
- Goalies will be on the ice for position-specific workouts from 8:30-10:15 AM and 4:00-4:45 PM.
- Skaters will be on the ice from 10:00-11:45 AM and 4:30-6:15 PM.
- The final day of on-ice workouts is Monday, July 11 and will consist of workouts from 10:00-11:45 AM and a three-on-three tournament from 3:00-5:00 PM.
This year’s development camp includes nine of the Flyers’ 10 selections from last week’s NHL Entry Draft in Buffalo, as well as the team’s four first-round selections from 2013-2015. A total of 16 forwards, 12 defensemen and six goaltenders are scheduled to attend.
