Flyers Open Training Camp with Weekend Full of Celebration

The Eastern Conference Champion Philadelphia Flyers will open their 2010-11 training camp with a weekend full of free activities for fans of all ages to enjoy at the Virtua Center at Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, NJ, from Friday, September 17 through Sunday, September 19. The Flyers will officially open training camp and unveil their new road jersey with a special ribbon cutting ceremony followed by free public skating to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Flyers Skate Zone on Friday, September 17 beginning at 3 p.m.

"We are just as excited as the fans are to open training camp and pick-up right where we left off last season," said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. "We are encouraging our fans to join us all weekend long and celebrate the opening of training camp with the Philadelphia Flyers."

Open auditions for the 2010-11PC Richards & Sons Flyers Ice Team will take place beginning on Saturday, September 18 at 1 p.m. The Flyers are looking for energetic, outgoing girls who can skate and love the game of hockey.

Fans can attend a live TV taping of Comcast SportsNet’s “Meet the Flyers,” featuring members of 2010-11 team, on Sunday, September 19 at 2 p.m.

All team practices throughout the week are open to the public. The team will practice on both Saturday, September 18 and Sunday, September 19 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Fans visiting training camp can get their faces painted, play interactive games, and take home a free rally towel at the free block party outside of the Virtua Center Skate Zone.

The Flyers first preseason game is against the New Jersey Devils at the Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday, September 21 at 7 p.m. They will also face-off against the New York Islanders at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday, September 29 at 7 p.m. and against the Buffalo Sabres at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday, October 1 at 7 p.m.
