Flyers open training camp with a weekend full of activities

The Philadelphia Flyers have planned a series of events to Flyer Up hockey fans for the 2011-12 National Hockey League (NHL) season when the team opens training camp on Thursday, September 15 with a preseason rookie game at the Wells Fargo Center between the Flyers and the Washington Capitals at 5 p.m.


The “Rookie Game” is a free ticketed event. Click here to reserve your tickets.

The Flyers will then conduct training camp at Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, NJ, from Friday, September 16 through Sunday, September 25, with free activities for Flyers fans of all ages. These activities include:

Saturday, September 17
9am - 1pm         Team Practice
9am - 1pm         Bauer Training Facility (fans encouraged to try it out!)
11am - 12pm    Hooked on Hockey clinic with Bob “Hound” Kelly
11am - 2pm       Flyer’d Up Fan Films
1 - 3pm               Ice Team Auditions
Sunday, September 18
9am - 1pm        Team Practice
9am - 1pm        Bauer Training Facility (fans encouraged to try it out!)
11am - 2pm      Flyer’d Up Fan Films
2 - 3pm              Comcast SportsNet “Meet the Flyers” Taping

Ice Team Tryouts: The Flyers will hold the P.C. Richards Ice Team Auditions on Saturday, September 17. Registration begins at 12 p.m. All candidates must be 18 years of age, display enthusiasm and energy and have prior skating ability. Click here to register.

Comcast SportsNet Meet the Flyers Taping: Seating is limited and based on availability for Comcast SportsNet’s “Meet the Flyers” live taping on Sunday, September 18. Wristbands will be distributed beginning at 8:30am. Click here to enter a for a chance to guarantee tickets.

Equipment Sale: Game used equipment for all player positions including sticks, skates, helmets, gloves, socks and pants will be on sale at Gear Zone through Sunday, September 18th. All sticks are professionally built equipment for NHL players and is not available in regular retail outlets.

Flyers Merchandise: Exclusive Flyers merchandise including all player jerseys, name and number t-shirts and headwear will be available at Gear Zone.
