The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have loaned forward Matt Read to the club's AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, according to general manager Ron Hextall.
The Flyers roster is now at 23 players with 13 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders. Among the names on the roster, the Flyers currently have five rookies: Robert Hagg, Taylor Leier, Samuel Morin, Nolan Patrick and Travis Sanheim.
Read appeared in four preseason games for the Flyers, recording four shots on goal. Last season, he recorded 19 points (10g-9a) and a plus-minus rating of plus-3 in 63 games.
Over parts of six NHL seasons, all with the Flyers, Read has posted 86 goals and 100 assists for 186 points in 418 regular season games. He also has eight points (4g-4a) in 24 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Following a four-year career at Bemidji State University, Read appeared 11 games for the club's AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, where he recorded seven goals and six assists for 13 points.
The Flyers will hold their first practice following training camp today at the SAP Center in San Jose in preparation of their season opening game against the Sharks. Puck drop is 10:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on NBCSN & 97.5 The Fanatic.
