Flyers host Panthers in 2015-16 home opener

The Philadelphia Flyers, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, today announced the club’s home opener for the 2015-16 season will be on Monday, October 12 vs. Florida. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The rest of the 2015-16 NHL schedule is scheduled for release Thursday, June 25.

Last season, the Flyers recorded a 23-11-7 record on home ice to post their eighth straight winning season at the Wells Fargo Center, and their 20th winning season at home in the last 21 years.

This will be the fourth time in team history that the Flyers have played the home opener against Florida, with the Flyers winning the previous two meetings. It’s the first time in 14 years the Flyers have hosted the Panthers in a home opening game, with their last meeting coming in 2001-02 with a 5-2 victory.

Head-to-head, the Flyers went 1-1-1 in the three meetings against the Panthers last season, going 1-0-1 at home.
