In their on-going effort to be a leading team in fan engagement, the Philadelphia Flyers today hired Anthony SanFilippo, a well-known professional hockey writer, to serve as the team's newly established inside reporter for PhiladelphiaFlyers.com.
SanFilippo, who most recently covered the Flyers as a beat writer for the Delaware County Daily Times, will now produce exclusive written and video content, driving Flyers fans to PhiladelphiaFlyers.com as the ultimate destination for Flyers news and information.
“Anthony is a tremendous writer and we are excited that he will be providing his insight and knowledge of the Flyers and the National Hockey League to Flyers fans at philadelphiaflyers.com," said Sr. Vice President of Business Operations Shawn Tilger. "As an organization, we felt it was important to provide our fans with an experienced and well-known writer who will continue to provide fresh content throughout the day."
In addition to producing web content, SanFilippo will also act as a communications liaison between the team and its fans, cultivating relationships with them through digital communication, primarily in the areas of social media.
SanFilippo joins the Flyers after 10 years of journalism experience from the Delaware County Daily Times. While there, SanFilippo was a recipient of several journalism awards and wrote on a variety of topics. He has covered the Flyers as a beat reporter since 2004. In 2005, he spent the entire lockout season as the only writer traveling with the Philadelphia Phantoms, documenting daily, their journey to winning the Calder Cup. SanFilippo has also covered each of the other professional sports teams in Philadelphia, as well as other local college and scholastic sports.
SanFilippo attended The American University in Washington, D.C. and St. Joseph's University. He also teaches a summer course that he authored at St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia, his alma mater.
