Flyers Cup Participants Announced

The Philadelphia Flyers Fan Development Department announced the start of the 27th annual Flyers Cup scholastic ice hockey championships. The tournament will run from Monday, March 13 through Saturday, March 25. Games will be played at Ice Line (West Chester, PA), the Face Off Circle (Warminster, PA), Grundy Recreation Center (Bristol, PA), The Skatium (Havertown, PA), IceWorks (Aston, PA), Twin Ponds East (Harrisburg, PA), Hatfield Ice (Colmar, PA), the Sovereign Bank Flyers Skate Zone (Voorhees, NJ), the Polonia Bank Flyers Skate Zone (Northeast Philadelphia) and Lancaster Ice Rink (Lancaster, PA).

The Flyers Cup is formatted in three tiers ("A", "AA", "AAA"). The 52 participating teams are from the following leagues: the Eastern High School Hockey League, the Inter-County Scholastic Hockey League, the Lehigh Valley Scholastic Hockey League, the Lower Bucks County Scholastic Hockey League, the South Jersey High School Ice Hockey League, the Suburban High School Hockey League, and the Central Pennsylvania Ice Hockey League.

Winners of each tier will advance to the Pennsylvania State Championships and face the winners of the Pittsburgh region's Penguins Cup. The State Championships are slated for Saturday, April 8, in Pittsburgh.

The Flyers Cup schedule will be as follows:
·OAAA" tier Final - Saturday, March 25, 3:00 p.m. at IceWorks (Aston, PA)
·tAA" tier Final - Friday, March 24, 8:00 p.m. at Hatfield Ice (Colmar, PA)
·sA" tier Final - Saturday, March 25, 12:00 noon at IceWorks (Aston, PA)

The "AAA" tier Final on Saturday, March 25, will be televised live on CN8, starting at 3:00 p.m.
