The Philadelphia Flyers announced today they have claimed forward Zack MacEwen off of waivers from the Vancouver Canucks and have added center Kevin Hayes to Long-Term Injured Reserve (LTIR), according to President of Hockey Operations & General Manager, Chuck Fletcher.

MacEwen, 25 (7-8-1996), has spent the last four years in the Canucks organization. Last season, he posted two points (1g-1a) in 34 games for Vancouver. He has a total of nine points (6g-3a) in 55 career regular season games, all with the Canucks. He also appeared in six Stanley Cup playoff games with Vancouver in the 2020 postseason bubble in Edmonton.

The 6-3, 205-pound forward played three seasons for Vancouver's American Hockey League affiliate, the Utica Comets, from 2017-18 to 2019-20 where he recorded 96 points (37g-59a) in 155 regular season games.

A native of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, MacEwen spent three seasons of junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Moncton Wildcats (2014-15 to 2015-16) and Gatineau Olympiques (2016-17) where he recorded 116 points (42g-74a) in 141 regular season games and an additional 21 points (12g-9a) in 33 postseason games.
