Flyers announce home opener for 2014-15 season

The Philadelphia Flyers, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, today announced the club’s home opener will be on Thursday, October 9 vs. New Jersey. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM.

The rest of the 2014-15 NHL schedule is scheduled for release tomorrow.

This will be the fifth time in team history that the Flyers have played the home opener against the Devils, and first time in 22 years. They split the previous four meetings, going 2-2-0, while each of the four meetings have combined for at least five goals.

1985-86: Devils 6, Flyers 5

1988-89: Flyers 4, Devils 1

1989-90: Devils 6, Flyers 2

1992-93: Flyers 6, Devils 4

Overall, the Flyers own a 26-14-6 record in home openers. They have dropped the last two opening games on home ice, but have won four of their last seven.
