The South Philadelphia Sports Complex will once again showcase its ability to host simultaneous events when both the Philadelphia Flyers and the Philadelphia Phillies are in action this Saturday, April 1. The Phillies host the Boston Red Sox at Citizens Bank Park at 1:05 p.m. while the Flyers host the New Jersey Devils at the Wachovia Center at 2 p.m.
"There will be more than enough parking to accommodate everyone for both events," according to Comcast-Spectacor Senior Vice President John Page. "We have more spaces available now than we have ever had before in South Philadelphia so there will not be a shortage of parking. We just want to make sure people properly plan by arriving earlier than usual and using alternate routes to South Philadelphia," said Page.
In order to accommodate early arrivals to Citizens Bank Park, the Phillies will open their entire Ball Park on Saturday, April 1 at 11:05 a.m. while Ashburn Alley will open at 10:35 a.m. In order to accommodate early arrivals to Wachovia Center, the Flyers will open doors to the Cingular Pavilion (11th Street side of the building) on Saturday, April 1 at 12 p.m.
Both Comcast-Spectacor and the Philadelphia Phillies will be working closely with the Philadelphia Police Department and the State Police to create a smooth traffic pattern for arrivals in South Philadelphia.
With multiple events scheduled for this Saturday afternoon, Comcast-Spectacor and the Philadelphia Phillies are encouraging everyone to arrive earlier than usual, take alternate routes into South Philadelphia and, if possible, to take SEPTA's Broad Street Line to the sports complex. Those attending the events should allow themselves extra time to arrive and plan accordingly.
