The Philadelphia Flyers, in conjunction with Comcast SportsNet, will hold a food drive on Saturday, November 4 when they host the Washington Capitals at Wachovia Center at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable or canned food items to the game. All food donated will go directly to the Food Bank of South Jersey.
All fans that donate a food item will receive a voucher for a chance to win a team signed jersey. Collection boxes for the food drive were donated by Weber Display and Packaging of Philadelphia, PA (www.weberdisplay-pkg.com
The Food Bank of South Jersey is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating hunger and malnutrition in the four counties it serves in Southern New Jersey – Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Salem. The Food Bank solicits, collects and stores food donations in its Pennsauken, NJ facility and then provides the same food to more than 325 charitable feeding programs, such as soup kitchens, food pantries, and shelters, who then distribute it directly to the food insecure individuals and families throughout those four counties.
