The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have acquired right wing Jakub Voracek
from the Columbus Blue Jackets, along with a first-round (8th overall) and third-round (68th overall) selection in this week’s 2011 NHL Entry Draft, in exchange for C Jeff Carter, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.
Voracek, 21 (8-15-1989), was selected by Columbus in the first round (8th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. In 80 games for the Blue Jackets last season, he scored 14 goals and added 32 assists for 46 points. In 241 career games for Columbus over three seasons (2008-11), he has posted 39 goals and 95 assists for 134 points.
Carter, 26 (1-1-1985), had 36 goals and 30 assists for 66 points last season and posted 181 goals and 162 assists for 343 points in 461 games over six seasons with the Flyers (2005-11). He was selected by the Flyers in the first round (11th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
