The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have acquired 6’3”, 205-pound defenseman Patrik Hersley (HUHRS-lee) and 6’0’, 185-pound left wing Ned Lukacevic (loo-kuh-SAY-vihk) from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for defenseman Denis Gauthier and their second round pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, according to club General Manager Paul Holmgren.

Hersley, 22, split the 2007-08 season between the Kings’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs, and their ECHL affiliate, the Reading Royals. He recorded a goal and eight assists for nine points and 27 penalty minutes in 42 regular season games for Manchester and three goals and 15 assists for 18 points and 18 penalty minutes in 20 regular season games for Reading. He also posted nine points (3G,6A) in 13 playoff games for Reading.
A native of Malmo, Sweden, Hersley was drafted by Los Angeles in the fifth round (139th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Lukacevic, 22, registered 17 goals and 19 assists for 36 points and 52 penalty minutes in 61 regular season games for Reading. He was also credited with two assists in eight playoff games for the Royals.
Over the last two seasons (2006-07 and 2007-08), Lukacevic has scored a goal in 12 regular season games for Manchester and recorded 24 goals and 36 assists for 60 points and 90 penalty minutes in 114 regular season games for Reading.

Prior to turning professional, Lukacevic played parts of five seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Spokane Chiefs (2001-02 through 2004-05) and the Swift Current Broncos (2005-06), registering 63 goals and 74 assists for 137 points and 217 penalty minutes in 238 regular season games.
A native of Podgorica, Serbia, Lukacevic was drafted by Los Angeles in the fourth round (110th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Gauthier, 31, recorded three goals and 15 assists for 18 points and 80 penalty minutes in 78 regular season games for the Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, this past season.
He has registered 73 points (15G,58A) and 658 penalty minutes in 489 career NHL regular season games over nine seasons (1997-98 through 2006-07) with the Calgary Flames (1997-98 through 2003-04), Phoenix Coyotes (2005-06) and the Flyers. In 60 career regular season games with the Flyers over parts of two seasons (2005-06 and 2006-07), he posted four assists and 82 penalty minutes. He was acquired by the Flyers from Phoenix in exchange for Josh Gratton, Florida’s second round pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and Tampa Bay’s second round choice in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft on March 9, 2006.
