The 23-year old defenseman appeared in 18 games with the New York Rangers last season, and led the team defense and ranked third on the AHL's Connecticut Whale with 30 assists. In his first game with Springfield, Erixson posted two assists. He was traded by the Rangers to the Columbus Blue Jackets this past summer.
