FIVE THINGS: Flyers vs. Winnipeg Jets

T he Flyers come into tonight winners of two straight home games, both of which have gone past regulation play… They have also won five of their last seven games and own a record of 13-7-3 on home ice… The Flyers own the NHL’s second-best power-play at home at 28.2 percent and have scored 24 of their 67 home goals on the man advantage (35.8%)… They have scored on the power play in two straight games and six of their last seven games to begin the new year… The Flyers have fired a combined 82 shots in their last two games, both at home… Wayne Simmonds scored in the last Flyers home game, giving him 12 of his 17 total goals at home and 20 of his total 29 points at the Wells Fargo Center this season .



T he Jets come into tonight’s game as one of the best road teams in the NHL - they have earned the most road points of any team in the NHL this season (33) and have the second-best road winning percentage in the NHL at .660… The Jets recently had their five-game winning streak and seven-game point streak snapped with a 5-3 loss at Pittsburgh… Jets captain Andrew Ladd leads the team in points (40), while center Bryan Little leads the team in goals with 18 on just 90 shots for a shooting percentage of 20%, which is third in the NHL (among player with 40+ shots)… Jets’ defenseman Dustin Byfuglien represented the team at the All-Star Game - he leads the Jets in shots on goal (149) & hits (145) and has 32 points in 49 games .



T his is the second and final meeting of the year against the Jets - the Flyers earned a comeback win in the first meeting on Dec. 21, recording two third period-goals and scoring 10 seconds into overtime for the win… Four of the last six Flyers victories have come past regulation play and five of the six have been decided by one goal… The Flyers are looking for their seventh win in January tonight, which would be the most of any month so far this season… The Jets have 50 percent of their wins against the Eastern Conference, going 13-5-4, but are winless against Pennsylvania teams, going 0-2-1 against the Penguins and Flyers this season… The Flyers have received goals from defensemen in each of their last four games and a total of 17 of 49 games… The General Managers of each team (PHI: Ron Hextall; WPG: Kevin Cheveldayoff) both played their junior hockey for the local Winnipeg team, the Brandon Wheat Kings .

oracek continues to lead the NHL in scoring with 57 points in 49 games, as well as lead all players in assists with 40 helpers - he has a four-point lead in both categories… Voracek has a four-game point streak, all of which have been assists, with five helpers in that span… Despite leading the NHL in scoring, Voracek is ranked 59th among all NHL forwards in average time-on-ice per-game (18:31) and eighth among all players on the Flyers… Voracek posted two goals, including the game-winner in overtime against the Jets in their only meeting this season… In 14 career games against the Thrashers/Jets franchise, Voracek has 13 points (4g-9a)… Voracek is also appearing in his 499th game in the NHL tonight .


Kane has four points in his last two games with a goal and three assists, while also recording points in five of his last seven with four goals and seven points in that stretch… In his sixth season since being drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers 4th overall in 2009, Kane has 22 points (10g-12a) and has a +6 rating in 34 games this season… Kane has missed 15 games this season due to lower-body injuries (13) or suspension (2)… Against the Flyers, Kane averages a point per-game with 15 points (5g-10a) in 15 games, but failed to record a point in the first meeting on Dec. 21.
