The Flyers are riding a three-game winning streak in which they have out-scored the opposition, 13-3… In addition to allowing just three goals, they have allowed less than 20 shots on goal in each of their last three games… The Flyers defense has produced 21 points (5g-16a) in the last seven games… They have also gone perfect on the penalty kill in their last four games, going 6-for-6, while recording 35 or more shots in three of their last four contests… The Flyers have won six of their last seven games, recording a power-play goal in five of the seven contests… Tonight is the second game of a back-to-back for the Flyers, who own a 4—6-0 record in the second game - four of their last five sets of back-to-backs have been against opponents who aren’t playing the second of a back-to-back, including the last two occasions and tonight’s opponent who last played on Thursday.
The Panthers are coming off a 6-2 win over the Senators on Thursday for their 37th win of the season… With 15 games remaining, Florida is six wins away from tying their franchise's record for wins in a season (43, 1999-00)… The Panthers have 30 of their 37 wins when they have scored the first goal, going 30-4-6… Aleksander Barkov has four goals and seven points in his last eight games - he is one of four Panthers who have recorded 20 goals this season… Jussi Jokinen is currently riding a nine-game point streak in which he has nine assists and 11 points - he leads the team in assists (36) and ranks second in points (49)… Defenseman Brian Campbell has not missed a game since joining the Panthers in 2011-12, appearing in 361 consecutive games.
This is the third and final meeting between these two teams… The Panthers have outscored the Flyers, 7-2, in the season series, but the Flyers have out-shot Florida 72-61 and earned a victory in their last meeting, a 1-0 shut out win in Philadelphia on Oct. 12… Florida is the only current Eastern Conference team against which the Flyers have a better all-time points percentage on the road than they do at home, but they have dropped the last two games at Florida, as well as three of their last four meetings on the road… Aaron Ekblad scored his first NHL goal against the Flyers, while Claude Giroux scored his first NHL goal against the Panthers.
It’s homecoming of sorts for the 22-year-old rookie, who will play his first NHL game in the rink he grew up in and against the team he cheered for being born in Pembroke Pines, Florida… Gostisbehere leads all Flyers defensemen and all rookie defensemen in goals (14), assists (23) and points (37)… He has broken two Flyers franchise records this season: most goals by a rookie defenseman (14) and longest point streak by any Flyers rookie (15)… Since his recall on Nov. 14, Gostisbehere has logged over 20 minutes of ice-time 19 times, 16 of which have come in the last 22 games. At 44 years-old, Jagr leads the Panthers in both goals (23) and points (51) while averaging 17:01 of ice-time… He ranks third on the team in assists (28) and plus-minus at +17… Jagr has six goals and 11 points in his last 10 games, recording at least a point in eight of those 10 contests… Jagr recently moved into third place all-time in NHL history, surpassing Gordie Howe with 1,851 career points, and leads all players in NHL history with 133 games-winning goals… He has two goals in two games in the season series against the Flyers as well as seven goals and 11 points in his last eight games against Philadelphia.
