by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers

T he Flyers wrap up their season-high five-game homestand tonight riding a four-game winning streak… During that streak, the Flyers have won three one-goal games and have scored a goal in the first period in each of the four games, while allowing a goal in the first period just once… Steve Mason is 3-0-0 and stopped 88 of 91 shots he has faced to record a .967 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average since returning from injury after the All-Star break… Wayne Simmonds has recorded points in three straight games, posting two goals, both on the power-play, and two assists for four points… After winning six of seven games, the Islanders have dropped their most recent three games, scoring just five goals in that three-game stretch… However, the Isles own an impressive 16-2-0 record against the Metropolitan Division and have won six straight against division opponents .

T his is the third of four meetings on the season between the Flyers and Islanders with the first two meetings being complete opposites of each other in the scoring department - the first was a scoreless game through regulation and overtime and ended in a 1-0 shootout loss for the Flyers on Long Island, while the second saw 11 goals scored as the Flyers took a 7-4 loss also on Long Island… This is the first of two meetings on home ice, where the Flyers have been dominant over the Isles… The Flyers have won three straight over the Islanders at home, and have gone 17-1-2 at the Wells Fargo Center since the start of the 2007-08 season .

T he Flyers have scored a power-play goal in five of their last six games, going 33.3% (6-for-18) and have killed off 12 of their last 13 penalties (92.3%) in their last four games… The Islanders are 18-3-1 in one-goal games, including 7-3 in regulation… The Isles are also 11-1 in games past regulation and 6-1 in the shootout… The Islanders have given up at least one power-play goal in each of their last seven games… Jake Voracek continues to lead the NHL’s scoring race with 58 points and leads all players in the NHL with 41 assists - with 31 games remaining, Voracek is five points shy of surpassing his career-high in points (62), which he set just last season… Flyers captain Claude Giroux leads the NHL on the power play with 25 points… Islanders star forward Kyle Okposo is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with an upper-body injury .

D
el Zotto is the hottest Flyer as of late - he is in the midst of a career-high six-game point streak in which he has three goals and seven points… He ranks second on the Flyers defense in scoring with 17 points, which has already surpassed his total points from last season… Should Del Zotto extend his streak to seven games he would be the first Flyers defenseman since Kim Johnsson to have a point streak of seven or more games - Johnsson had an eight-game streak from Oct. 13-31, 2001… Del Zotto has the most points against the Islanders in his career than any other team with 11 points (4g-7a) in 23 games, including a goal in this year’s season series .

The Islanders captain leads the team in scoring with 49 points in 50 games… He also leads the team in almost every offensive category: goals (23), power-play goals (10), power-play points (20), game-winning goals (5) and is tied for the NHL lead in overtime goals (3)… He ranks second on the team in assists (26)… Lately, Tavares has recorded points in six of his last seven games with 10 points (4g-6a) in that stretch… He also scored four goals in the 2015 NHL All-Star Game, which tied an NHL record… Against the Flyers, Tavares has one goal in two games, but scored the game-clinching goal to beat the Flyers 1-0 in a shootout on Nov. 24… In his career, he has 13 goals and 23 points in 28 games against Philadelphia.
