The Flyers play their fifth and final game of their nine-day road trip when they face the Jets… The Flyers own a three-game winning streak against the Jets and have earned a point against Winnipeg in their last four meetings, going 3-0-1… Since the Jets moved to Winnipeg from Atlanta in 2011-12, the Flyers own a 6-3-2 record in 11 games, including a 3-2-1 record in Winnipeg… The Flyers are looking to snap a six-game winless skid and four-game winless streak on the road… The Flyers are third in the NHL in average shots per game at 31.7, but also are 29th in the league in scoring at 1.85 goals per game.
The Jets come into tonight with the best start to their season since returning to Winnipeg in 2011-12 with an 8-4-2 record for 18 points… They have earned a point in the standings in four of their last five games, going 3-1-1… The Jets also rank fourth in the NHL in goals scored (42) this season… Winnipeg is a perfect 3-0-0 when leading after the first period and 6-0-0 when leading after the second period… The Jets are tied for third in the NHL in second period goals (17) and are tied for the NHL lead in shorthanded goals this season (3)… Winnipeg is also tied for second in the NHL in most minor penalties this season (60).
Defenseman Michael Del Zotto leads the Flyers in average time-on-ice (23:37) and has logged more than 23 minutes of ice time in 11 of 13 games… Defenseman Dustin Byfuglien has goals in two straight games and leads the team takeaways (15) which is tied for third in the NHL… The Jets have played nine of their 14 games against the Eastern Conference so far this season, going 5-2-2, while the Flyers have played five of their 13 games against the Western Conference, going 1-3-1… The Flyers rank second in the NHL in number of hits (402) while the Jets are ranked third (399)… Nikolaj Ehlers is tied for sixth among all NHL rookies in scoring with nine points (4g-5a) in 14 games.
Voracek led the Flyers in the season series with two goals and three points in two games against the Jets last season… In his last visit to Winnipeg, Voracek scored two goals, including the game-winning-goal 10 seconds into overtime to give the Flyers a 4-3 comeback win… He averages nearly a point per-game with 10 assists and 14 points in 15 career games against the Winnipeg franchise… Voracek has three of his four points this season when playing on the road… He continues to be the iron-man leader of the Flyers, having played in every game for three straight seasons and 239 consecutive games played, missing only four games as a Flyer (303 of 307) and has appeared in 544 out of a possible 553 games played since his first NHL game on Oct. 10, 2008. Wheeler is off to the best start of his eight year NHL career - he leads the Jets and ranks fourth overall in the NHL’s scoring race with 17 points (6g-11a) in 14 games… He began the season with an eight-game point streak and has recorded at least a point in 12 of 14 games, including five of six home games… Wheeler has six points (2g-4a) in his last five games… Against the Flyers, Wheeler has 18 career points, 17 of which are assists, in 25 games.
