The Flyers hit their final lengthy road trip of the season, where they will play four games in a span of six days away from the Wells Fargo Center… The Flyers have earned points in three straight road games (2-0-1), and six of their last seven on the road, going 4-1-2… The Flyers have gone 40 percent (4-for-10) on the power play in their last three road games, while killing 11-of-12 on the penalty kill in their last five on the road… Overall, the Flyers have a 15-14-5 record on the road, which is five more wins on the road than all of last season and three shy of 2013-14… Jakub Voracek has eight of his 10 goals while playing on the road this season.
The Flyers play the fourth of a five-game season series and second of three in the Islanders inaugural season in Brooklyn… They were supposed to play Jan. 23, but the game was postponed due to weather with their make up game scheduled for Apr. 10 - the final game of the regular season… In their last meeting, the Flyers earned a 4-0 victory in Philadelphia and currently own a shutout streak of 103:46 over the Isles… However, the Flyers have dropped their last four contests in Long Island with their last win coming on Oct. 26, 2013… Claude Giroux has the most points against the Islanders than any player on the club with 40 points in 36 games, while Islanders captain John Tavares has the most points against the Flyers than any other teammate with 27 points in 33 games.
The Flyers defense has recorded a goal in four straight games and six of the last seven contests, while also posting 27 points (8g-19a) in the last 10 games… The Flyers have allowed just one goal on the penalty kill in the month of March, killing 15–of-16 advantages at 93.7 percent… The Islanders come into today having dropped three straight games, scoring just three goals during the skid, and have dropped five of their last six games… Tonight is just the third home game for the Islanders in their last 15 contests… They are unbeaten in regulation in their last seven games at home (6-0-1), and own a 21-8-5 record on home ice and have the second fewest regulation losses at home in the NHL (Washington: 6)… The Islanders are ranked third the NHL in hits (2,032), while the Flyers are ranked fourth (1,950).
Gudas comes in with goals in two straight games, and four goals in his last seven games… He has nine of his 12 total points on the season in his last 13 games, while recording over 30 percent of his shots (36 of 118) in the last 13 games… His four goals are also a new career high, while his 64 games played are the second most games played by a Flyers defenseman this season (Schultz: 69)… Gudas ranks fourth among all NHL players with 267 hits, while ranking second on the Flyers with 127 blocked shots… Against the Islanders, Gudas has three points (1g-2a) in 10 career games. The Islanders captain plays his 500th game in the NHL tonight, recording 200 goals and 257 assists for 457 points in 499 games… This season, he leads the team in both goals (26) and points (56) in 67 games… He has points in six of his last eight overall games with six points (3g-3a), while also owning an eight-game point streak on home ice, recording 12 points (5g-7a) in that span… Against the Flyers, Tavares has 14 goals and 27 points in 33 career meetings, but has just one assist in three games this season.
