The Flyers and Islanders play each other for the third time this preseason and third time in a five-day span… They traded victories in the first two meetings, which was a split-squad game on Sept. 21, when they won a 5-3 game in Allentown, but dropped a 3-2 decision in Brooklyn… This is the first time that the Flyers will have played the same team three times in a single preseason since the 2003 preseason when they played the Devils four times… The Islanders team will also be a split-squad for tonight’s game, as they play the Devils in New Jersey tonight.
RJ Umberger leads the Flyers with three points, all assists, in the preseason thus far…  Brayden Schenn and Shayne Gostisbehere lead the team with two goals through two games - Schenn has his two goals on three shots… The Flyers lead all teams in the NHL on the power-play in the preseason at 45.5 percent, going 5-for-11… In the three contests, the Flyers have had 24 players register at least a point so far - Of those 24 players, 18 are still with the Flyers in training camp.
John Tavares leads the Islanders in the scoring department this preseason with three points (1g-2a) in two games… The Isles have scored a total of eight goals this preseason - all of which have been scored by eight different players… Four of their eight goals have been scored on special teams (3ppg, 1shg)… Neither the Flyers or Islanders have played past regulation (with the score tied) this preseason… Of the 13 games that have gone past regulation so far this preseason, 10 have been decided in overtime rather than a shootout.
Gostisbehere is one of 12 defensemen left on the Flyers training camp roster… He will be playing his third straight preseason game and scored two goals in his last outing, a 5-3 win over the Rangers on Tuesday, where he also posted seven shots on goal… He also ranks fifth in the NHL preseason in shots on goal with 10 through two games… Gostisbehere also logged over 25 minutes of ice time in his last outing with nearly five minutes of that coming on the power-play (4:49)… Through his first two games, he has logged over eight minutes of time on the Flyers’ man advantage (8:20). With the Islanders playing a split-squad game tonight, Bailey comes in as the Islander who had the most points last year, recording 15 goals and 46 points in 70 games played - his best year in his seven-year NHL career, all with the Islanders… He has appeared in just one preseason game so far this year, recording an assist in the Islanders’ 3-2 win at Brooklyn… In four games against the Flyers last year, he posted two points (1g-1a).
