FIVE THINGS: Flyers vs. Dallas Stars

T he Flyers enter a stretch where they will play seven of their next nine games against Western Conference teams with five of those seven games on the road… Tonight’s game is just one of four games the Flyers will play at home in the next 26 days… The Stars come into tonight’s game playing the third of their season-high 10-day, five-game road… They have gone 2-5-2 in their last nine games and have had their last three games (and four of their last five) contests decided by one goal… The Flyers own an 11-6-4 record against the West and 7-3-1 mark against the Central Division, while the Stars have a 14-11-2 record against the East and are 8-3-1 against the  Metropolitan .

T his is the second and final meeting of the season against the Stars… The Flyers earned their first win of the 2014-15 season against the Stars, 6-5 in OT, on Oct. 18 at Dallas in dramatic fashion by recording three goals in the third period and winning in overtime with a goal from Claude Giroux, who has nine points (3g-6a) in eight career games against the Stars… In that game, the Flyers got all six of their goals from different players, and 12 Flyers overall found the scoresheet… Jason Spezza posted a goal and three assists in the game - he averages nearly a point-per-game against the Flyers with 30 points (9g-21a) in 31 career games… The Flyers currently own a four-game winning streak on home-ice against the Stars, with their last loss coming on Dec. 1, 2007 with Martin Biron in net… Since the team moved to Dallas, from being the Minnesota North Stars in 1993-94, the Flyers are 6-2-6 at home and 10-8-9 overall against Dallas .

D allas goaltender Kari Lehtonen is winless in 13 career games against the Flyers, going 0-10-3 with a 3.70 GAA and .886 sv pct… Lehtonen is two games shy of appearing in his 500th NHL game… Stars captain Jamie Benn currently has a six-game point streak against the Flyers, posting  all seven of his career points (3g-4a) against them during the streak… The Stars are tied for the NHL lead in shorthanded goals (9), with five of them coming after the NHL All-Star break… Michael Raffl has posted three goals and five points to go along with a +3 rating in his last five games… The Flyers defense has now recorded 15 goals and 45 points in their last 22 games… The Flyers have allowed a goal in the first period in seven consecutive games and 10 of their last 11… The Flyers have also scored at least a goal in the third period in their last six games, posting 11 third-period goals in that six-game span .

White has been one of the Flyers most effective players lately, factoring into both Flyers goals against the Devils on Sunday with a goal and an assist… Since returning to the Flyers lineup after missing the first 35 games of the season due to a pectoralis injury, White has recorded three goals and five assists for eight points which are all new career highs in just 19 games to go along with a +2 rating… He has also averaged over 12:30 minutes of ice-time in the last four games… White has played three career games against the Stars, going scoreless.

S eguin made an early return to the lineup after missing 18 days and 10 games due to a sprained right knee which was originally supposed to keep him out 4-6 weeks … In his return against the Lightning on Saturday, Seguin posted two goals to give him 31 goals and 61 points in 56 games played… Seguin posted four assists in the only meeting this year against the Flyers and now has 10 points in his last three times he has faced the Flyers… Overall, he has 18 points (8g-10a) in 13 career games against the Flyers which is tied for the most points he has against any other team (TOR: 18).
