FIVE THINGS: Flyers vs. Coyotes

The Flyers end their four-game road trip tonight after earning five out of six points, going 2-0-1… Brayden Schenn leads the Flyers with four points in the three games, while Claude Giroux has goals in all three games… During the road trip, the Flyers have nine players who have multiple points and 16 of 19 skaters have recorded at least a point… The Flyers have also enjoyed a successful second half of the season, going 21-10-6 since Jan. 1, while also owning one of the NHL’s best records since Feb. 16 with a 12-3-3 mark… The Flyers currently sit in the second wild card position at 85 points, tied with Detroit, who plays the Penguins at home today.
The Coyotes come into tonight’s game having won five of their last seven contests and while the Flyers are on a four-game road trip, Arizona is currently on a four-game homestand… The Coyotes have won four of their last five games on home ice, holding their opponent to two goals or less and allowing an average of 1.40 goals per game while going 4-1-0… Coyotes defenseman Michael Stone has six points (1g-5a) in his last six games and has recorded 25 of his 35 total points while playing at home… Connor Murphy, son of current Flyers assistant coach Gord Murphy, has three points (1g-2a) in four games against the Flyers… 39-year-old Shane Doan is the longest active captain in the NHL at 12 seasons - he leads the Coyotes this year in scoring with 25 goals.
The Coyotes have two players near the top the leaderboard among all NHL rookies in scoring: Max Domi ranks third with 47 points (18g-29a) and Anthony Duclair ranks seventh with 38 points (17g-21a)… Likewise, the Coyotes have one of the top rookie goaltenders this season, Louis Domingue ranks third with 15 wins and number of games played (37) - he has a 2.62 goals-against average and .917 save percentage… Shayne Gostisbehere added an assist in the last Flyers game, giving him 40 points on the season, which ranks fifth among all NHL rookies - he also leads all rookie defensemen in goals (16), assists (24) and points (40) as well as power-play goals (7) and power-play points (20)… Nick Cousins has six goals and nine points in 24 games since being recalled to the Flyers on Feb. 6… Goaltender Anthony Stolarz has yet to appear in an NHL game in his career.
Couturier enters tonight with points in three straight games, recording three assists, while also recording nine assists and at least one assist in eight of his last 10 games… The Flyers have 31 of their 36 total victories and 71 of their 85 points when Couturier is in the lineup, going 31—15-9, and without him in the lineup, the Flyers are 5-9-4… Born in the state of Arizona, Couturier had an assist in the first meeting of the year and has five assists in seven career games against the Coyotes. The 24-year-old Swedish defenseman has points in two straight games, both assists, since returning from injury last week… He leads the Coyotes in overall scoring with 51 points (19g-32a) in 68 games, while his 32 assists and 51 points are a new career high… The sixth overall pick in the 2009 NHL Draft, Ekman-Larsson has averaged over 25 minutes of ice time in each of the last three years and averages 24:39 of TOI this year… He has recorded at least a goal in each of the last three seasons against the Flyers, while recording four points (3g-1a) in seven career games against Philadelphia.
