FIVE THINGS: Flyers vs. Canucks

The Flyers come into tonight looking to snap a three game winless skid after winning four of their previous five games from Oct. 12-24… It is also the first of another set of back-to-backs for the Flyers, who will travel to Edmonton to take on the Oilers on Tuesday night… The Flyers last two games were back-to-backs - they are 0-1-1 in the first game and  1-1-0 in the second… The Flyers have all four of their wins this season when scoring the first goal… The Flyers have received goals from a defensemen in two straight games and three of the last four contests… The Flyers defense has also recorded at least a point in their last five games, recording 10 points (3g-7a) in that span.
Six of the Canucks last seven games have been decided by one goal, as well as eight of their 11 games this season - Vancouver is 2-2-4 in games decided by one goal… The Canucks have four of their five victories when they score the first goal… The Canucks power play has been on fire lately, recording at least a goal in five straight games, operating at 40 percent, going 6-for-15… Vancouver is also second in the NHL on the penalty kill at 90 percent, allowing just three goals on the PK this season… The Canucks have 15 different players who have recored at least one goal on the year - They are led by rookie Jared McCann, who has five goals in nine games… Ryan Miller has started 10 of the Canucks first 11 games of the season.
Last year, the Flyers dropped both contests to the Canucks and were outscored, 8-1, in the process, but the Flyers outshot the Canucks, 58-57… The Flyers have also dropped five of their last seven meetings against Vancouver… Despite losing two out of the last three meetings at Vancouver, including last season, the Flyers have been very successful in Vancouver with a .679 winning percentage and 32-12-12 record on the road… They have not lost in two consecutive visits to Vancouver since 1986… Sam Gagner has the most points in his career against the Canucks than any other Flyer on the current roster (22) in 42 games… Claude Giroux has nine points (2g-7a) in eight career games against the Canucks… The Sedin twins both average over a point per-game pace against the Flyers - Daniel has 17 points (3g-14a) in 15 games, while Henrik has 20 points (3g-17a) in 15 outings… Daniel Sedin also has five points (1g-4a) in his last three games against the Flyers.
The Flyers defenseman is leading the team in scoring with seven points, posting three goals and four assists… He has points in four of his last five games, recording six of his seven points (2g-4a) in that stretch… He is averaging 23:27 of ice-time in the first 10 games, which is a full minute over his average TOI last season and nearly three full minutes from his first year as a Flyer in 2013-14… Streit is nine points shy of 400 career points in the NHL with 87 goals and 304 assists in 664 NHL games… Against the Canucks, he has one goal in nine career games. Burrows is second on the team in both assists (5) and points (8) through 11 games… He also has recorded at least a point in three of his last four games (2g-2a)… Burrows will be playing his 700th career NHL game tonight, all with the Vancouver Canucks, where he has 178 goals and 172 assists for 350 points to go along with a plus-minus rating of +122… He was undrafted in the NHL… Against the Flyers, Burrows averages over a point per-game with five assists and eight points in seven career games.
