FIVE THINGS: Flyers vs. Canadiens

This is the third and final game of the season series against the Canadiens, with all three meetings taking place in that span of 45 days… The Flyers won both meetings this season, and are looking to sweep the season series and go perfect against the Canadiens for the first time since the 2002-03 season when they went 4-0-0… Despite winning two in-a-row against the Canadiens, the Flyers will be looking to snap a three-game losing skid at the Bell Centre in Montreal with their last win coming on Apr. 15, 2013 by a score of 7-3… Since Feb. 12, 2010, the Flyers have earned points in 16 of their last 22 games against the Canadiens, going 14-6-2.

The Flyers recorded a 6-3 win at New Jersey in their last game, which was their second six-goal performance of the season, both of which have come in the month of February… The Flyers have scored five or more goals just four times this year, three of which have come in February…  The Flyers own a perfect 14-0-0 record when they have scored four goals or more in a game… The Flyers have recorded a goal on the power play in three straight (4-for-13), four of their last five games (5-for-23) and 12 of their last 15 games (16-for-65, 24.6%)… The Flyers own a 12-11-5 record when they score a power-play goal but a 5-1-0 record when they have scored two or more goals on the power play.
The Flyers are looking to win consecutive games that have both been played on the road for the first time since they won three straight games in that scenario from Nov. 28-Dec. 4… Shayne Gostisbehere leads the NHL with an active 13-game point streak where he has posted four goals and 16 points - it’s the longest by any rookie and defenseman this season and second-longest overall… Brayden Schenn has goals in two straight games and three of his last four contests… Of his 17 goals this season, 10 have come in the New Year (since Jan. 2), a span of 20 games in which he also has 19 points… Montreal comes into tonight looking to snap a three-game losing streak, all of which have been on the road, where they have been outscored, 15-8… However the Habs are looking to extend a three-game winning streak on home ice, where they have outscored their opponent 10-4… The Canadiens have 21 of their 27 wins this season when they have scored the first goal, going 21-7-1… The Canadiens have six players who have scored 10 goals or more on their team, lead by captain Max Pacioretty, who has 20 goals.
Simmonds leads the Flyers in scoring with 20 goals - it’s the fourth 20-goal season out of five years with the Flyers with the only year coming in a 48-game lockout shortened season when he scored 15 goals in 45 games… Simmonds posted a goal and an assist in his last game, a 6-3 win at NJ, and has seven goals and nine points in his last nine games… The Flyers own a 13-2-1 record when he scores a goal… Against the Canadiens, Simmonds has goals in both games of the season series, recording three goals on 10 shots, and has posted lifetime stats of 10 points in 18 games against Montreal. Galchenyuk is scoreless in his last two games, but prior to that, recorded four goals and seven points in a seven-game span… He is fourth on the team in overall scoring with 34 points (14g-20a) appearing in all 58 games for Montreal… The Flyers are the only NHL team that Galchenyuk averages a point-per-game or more with 12 points (4g-12a) in 10 games… The 22-year-old third-overall pick is in his fourth season in the NHL and has over 250 games under his belt with 56 goals and 138 points.
