FIVE THINGS: Flyers vs. Bruins

The Flyers come into tonight’s game playing the second half of games on back-to-back nights after dropping a 2-1 loss to Dallas at home… Last season, the team went 5—7-2 in the second game of back-to-backs… Three of the first five games for the Flyers have been decided by one goal… The Flyers have killed off 14 consecutive penalties, including three straight games killing off all 13 times shorthanded… Both Flyers wins on the year have come when they are leading after the second period and both when the team scores first… The Flyers have scored five of their eight goals in the second period this season, and have just one goal in the first period… The Flyers have had six different players record eight of their goals so far this season… Sean Couturier, Wayne Simmonds, Matt Read and Brayden Schenn all share the team lead in scoring with three points each.
The Bruins come in a much different team from last year with the departures of defenseman Dougie Hamilton and forwards Milan Lucic, Carl Soderberg and Gregory Campbell… They acquired Matt Beleskey, Jimmy Hayes and Zac Rinaldo over the summer… The Bruins are winless this year on home ice, as they opened the season with a three-game homestand where they were outscored 16-7, however the B’s have won their last two games outscoring the opposition 11-5… David Krejci leads the Bruins in scoring with four goals and nine points and has scored in every game this season, riding a five-game point streak… Defenseman Torey Krug ranks second among all defensemen in scoring with six points, all assists, through five games… The Bruins have scored eight of their 18 goals this year on special teams (7ppg, 1shg) and have NHL’s best power play at 38.9 percent, going 7-for-18.
This is the 187th all-time meeting against the Bruins with the Flyers owning a 65-90-21-10 record… The Flyers have dropped their last five games in Boston, going 0-3-2, with their last victory coming on Oct. 6, 2011, and currently have an overall six-game skid against the Bruins, going 0-4-2, with their last win coming on Apr. 23, 2013… Mark Streit has 27 points against the Bruins, 26 of which are assists, in 40 career games… David Krejci averages a point per-game against the Flyers with 26 points (5g-21a) in 26 games… Tuukka Rask owns a 9-1-1 career mark against the Flyers, posting a 1.82 GAA and .937 save percentage, while Jonas Gustavsson is winless in his career against the Flyers, going 0-4-1… Zac Rinaldo will play his first game against the Flyers since being traded in the offseason - Rinaldo was drafted (6th round, 178th overall) and appeared in 223 games as a Flyer… Boston is the only NHL team in which Sam Gagner has not recorded a point in his career - he has gone scoreless in eight games.
