FIVE THINGS: Flyers vs. Blue Jackets

The Flyers are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games and their 15 points in that span is tied for second most in the Eastern Conference, and tied for the third most points in the NHL in the last 10 games… The Flyers have won three of their last four games, but have been outshot by their opponent in all four contests… With a win tonight, the Flyers would be three games over the .500 mark for the first time this season… The Flyers have also won four of their last five on the road and will be looking for their eighth road win of the year tonight - they did not win their eighth game on the road until Feb. 8 (at WSH) last season… The Flyers are tied for second in the NHL with five shutouts this season (MIN: 6, CHI 5).
The Blue Jackets have dropped eight of their last 10 games, going 2-5-3, however one of the two victories came against the Flyers on Dec. 5 and the other came in their last game, a 7-5 decision at Arizona… The Blue Jackets will be looking for their first back-to-back victories since  Nov. 25-27… Columbus has just four of their 12 wins on home ice, going 4-8-3, and have not won at home since Nov. 27 (2-1 OT vs. PIT)… Four of their last five home games have been decided past regulation… Columbus has a majority of their victories (7 of 12) against the Western Conference and all five of their wins in the Eastern Conference against the Metropolitan Division… Since the hiring of John Tortorella on Oct. 21, the Blue Jackets are 85.1 percent on the penalty kill (80-of-94) through 27 games - prior to that, Columbus was 66.6 percent on the PK (14-of-21).
The Blue Jackets and Flyers have the same exact record when scoring the first goal at 9-4-1… The Flyers enter tonight’s game ranked second in the NHL in hits (981), while the Blue Jackets are behind them in third with 915 hits… Jakub Voracek has points in three straight games, posting five points (1g-4a) in that stretch, which also ties for his longest point streak of the season… He leads the team lead in assists (18) and is second in overall points (20)… Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno has eight points (4g-4a) in his last nine games… Sergei Bobrovsky has a lifetime record of 4-1-0 with a 1.79 GAA and .940 save percentage against the Flyers… Claude Giroux has not recorded a point in his last two games, but has not gone scoreless in three straight games this season - the last time he went three straight without a point was Mar. 8-12 of last season.
Simmonds is the team’s road warrior this season - leading the Flyers and posting all seven of his goals on the road so far this season, and 12 of his 17 points have come away from the Wells Fargo Center… The Flyers have six of their seven road victories when Simmonds records a goal… The Flyers own a perfect 6-0-0 record when he records a goal, and have a 10-4-0 mark when he records a point… Simmonds comes into tonight with eight points (4g-4a) in his last nine games… Against the Blue Jackets, Simmonds has nine goals and 13 points in 23 career games. The former Flyer leads the Blue Jackets in both goals (13) and points (25) through 33 games played, despite ranking 12th on the team in average ice-time at 15:56 per game… Hartnell has points in each of his last two games (1g-2a), and since not appearing in the Blue Jackets lineup on Dec. 4, he has recorded points in six of the last seven games with four goals and five assists for nine points in that stretch… Hartnell has nine points (2g-9a) in 12 career games against the Flyers and in his last meeting, he factored into three of the four goals, recording a goal and two assists.
