FIVE THINGS: Flyers at Toronto Maple Leafs

T he Flyers come into tonight’s game looking to draw within two points of the Boston Bruins, who are off tonight, for the final Wild Card position in the Eastern Conference… The Flyers are 8-2-4 in their last 14 games, earning 20 out of 28 points since Jan. 20… The Flyers extended their streak of points from a defensemen to seven straight games, where they have posted 13 points (3g-10a) in that seven-game span… The Flyers defense has also produced at least a point in 15 of their last 16 contests for a total of 12 goals and 22 assists for 34 points in that span… The Leafs come into tonight looking for back-to-back wins for the first time since Dec. 14-16, a span of 29 games… They have just two wins in their last 18 games, going 2-14-2… Toronto has 17 of their 24 wins on home ice this season and has scored the second-most goals at home in the NHL (104) .



T he Flyers look to sweep the season series against Toronto for the second time in four seasons (2011-12) and just second time since Toronto switched to the Eastern Conference in 1998-99… The first two meetings were complete opposites in the scoring department with 11 goals scored in the first meeting with the Flyers winning 7-4, while the Flyers earned a 1-0 shutout victory in the second meeting… Claude Giroux (2g-2a) and Jakub Voracek (4a) lead the Flyers in the season series with four points, while Joffrey Lupul (1g-1a) and Phil Kessel (2a) lead Toronto with two points in two games… The Flyers are unbeaten in regulation in their last three games at Toronto (2-0-1) and have gone 7-1-1 in their last nine meetings over parts of the last six seasons at the ACC .

oronto has traded three players in the Top 7 of their team in scoring within the last 12 days: Cody Franson and Michael Santorelli on Feb. 15 to the Nashville Predators and yesterday traded Daniel Winnik to the Pittsburgh Penguins - the three players combined for 86 points for Toronto this season… Jakub Voracek is tied for the NHL lead in scoring with 64 points and is second overall in assists (45) - his 64 points and 45 assists are both new career highs… Claude Giroux averages over a point per-game against the Maple Leafs, recording 23 points (8g-15a) in 22 career games… Wayne Simmonds has 14 points in his last 14 games, posting eight goals and six assists… Phil Kessel leads Toronto in points (48) and is tied in goals (22)… Kessel has scored more goals than any other American-born skater since 2008-09 (214).



D el Zotto comes in as the hottest Flyers defenseman with two goals and three assists for five points in his last six games… He has scored more goals (7) than his previous two seasons combined (6) and has set a new career-high for game-winning goals (3), while his 23 points is his highest point total since the 2011-12 season with the Rangers (41)… Del Zotto ranks second on the Flyers defense in points and second on the overall team in time-on-ice per-game (21:07)… He has appeared in over 21 minutes of TOI in 16 of his last 17 games, nine of which he has appeared in over 23 minutes of TOI… Against the Maple Leafs, Del Zotto has eight points (4g-4a) in 17 career outings.


T he 20-year-old defenseman is coming off a two assist night in the Leafs 4-3 OT win over Winnipeg… He has seven assists and 10 points in Toronto’s last 14 games and leads the team defense with seven goals, which is a new career-high… He is also tied for the lead among the team’s defense with 22 points, five points shy of a career-high set in his rookie season last year… Rielly averages just 19:34 of ice-time per-game this season, but has logged over 25 minutes of TOI in each of his last three games and over 21 minutes of ice-time in each of his last 15 games… In four career games against the Flyers, he has two assists.
