FIVE THINGS: Flyers at New York Islanders

T oday is the final game the Flyers will play at Nassau Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum where they own a 54-54-15-3 regular season record and a 4-7 record in the Stanley Cup Playoffs… The most successful of years came from 2006 to 2013 when the team went 16-3-0, including three sweeps on the Island going 3-0-0 in 2008-09 and two consecutive years from 2010-12… The Flyers won their first visit to Nassau, earning a 2-1 victory over the Islanders on Dec. 16, 1972… This is the second of four meetings and second on Long Island this season -In the first meeting, neither team scored a goal as the game was decided by a 1-0 shootout victory by the Islanders on Nov. 14 .

T oday is the sixth day-time start for the Flyers, who own a 2-3-0 record in that scenario… The Flyers look for their second straight road win after a 4-3 win over the Sabres on Saturday which broke a skid of six straight road losses… The Islanders come into today having won four of their last five games and 11 of their last 16 games, going 11-4-1 in that stretch… The Isles lead the Metropolitan Division and are tied for second in the Eastern Conference and tied for fourth in the overall NHL standings… The Flyers are sixth in the NHL on the power play at 23.1 percent and are tied for third overall in the league in power-play goals scored (36)… The Islanders are tied for third in the league in goals scored per-game (3.07)… Zac Rinaldo will play his 200th game in the NHL .

T oday is the first of games on back-to-back days - the Flyers own a 1–8-0 record in the first game and 2-6-1 mark in the second… The Islanders have a 14-2-0 mark against teams in the Metropolitan Division… The Islanders have 25 of their 30 victories when they out-shoot their opponent… With 53 points, Jakub Voracek holds a one-point lead in the NHL’s scoring race over Dallas’ Tyler Seguin, while his 36 assists are tied for the lead with Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby… Claude Giroux averages over a point-per-game against the Islanders with 26 assists and 34 points in 30 games, as does Matt Read, who has 10 goals and 15 points in 15 career games against the Isles… Jaroslav Halak was named to the NHL All-Star team - he is 21-5-0 in his last 26 games and posted a career-high 11 game winning streak from Nov. 5 - Dec. 4, surpassing Islanders franchise record of 10-straight wins (Billy Smith, 1982)...

U mberger has three goals in his last six games and has recorded six of his eight goals on the season in the last 15 games as well as seven of his 12 points on the year in the last 15 contests… He has also recorded four or more shots in five of the seven games in which he has posted a goal this year… Umberger is one of seven Flyers to have appeared in all 46 games so far this year, and in his career as a Flyer, he has played in 274 out of a possible 283 games since his NHL debut on Oct. 30, 2005… Against the Islanders, Umberger has the most goals (14) than any other team in his career and is tied (Pittsburgh) for the most points of any team (24) though 32 games.

Okposo has five goals in his last two games, including a four-goal effort in a 6-3 win over Pittsburgh on Friday… He has also recorded at least a point in 10 of his last 13 games to post seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in that stretch… He ranks second on the team with 43 points with (14g-29a) which has put him in 13th place overall in the NHL… His 29 assists leads the Islanders… In his eight year in the NHL, the 7th overall pick in 2006 is three points shy of 300 career points in the NHL with 297 points in 435 games… Against the Flyers, Okposo has seven goals and 18 points in 31 games.
