FIVE THINGS: Flyers at New Jersey Devils

D espite the loss at Boston, the Flyers have earned points in four straight games and six of their last eight, going 4-2-2, and are five points back of the final Wild Card spot in the East… The Flyers have been successful bouncing back from an overtime or shootout loss this season, owning a 6-2-2 record in the games that follow a loss past regulation play… The Flyers play the second of games on back-to-back nights and despite going 2-10-0 in the first game, they own a 4-6-1 in the second… The Devils come into tonight’s game after losing 3-2 to Columbus on home ice in their last contest - New Jersey has not lost back-to-back home games in regulation this entire season… The Devils have gone 5-2-1 in their last eight games on home ice, while the Flyers have dropped three straight road games and five of their last six away from the Wells Fargo Center going 1-2-3 .

T he Flyers play the Devils for the fourth and final time this season, going 1-2-0 in the first three and dropping their only meeting at Newark (5-2 on Jan. 3)… The two teams have combined for 22 goals in the three games of the season series (PHI: 10, NJD: 12)… Seven different Flyers have recorded at least three points in the season series, led by Simmonds (3g-1a), Giroux (1g, 3a) and Streit (4a) who all have four points… The Flyers have scored 50 percent of their goals on special teams in the season series with four power-play goals and one of their two shorthanded goals this season… For the Devils, they are looking to sweep the season series on home ice against the Flyers for the fifth time in the last 10 seasons, most recently in 2012-13… Adam Henrique and Scott Gomez lead the Devils against the Flyers each with a goal and three assists in the series .

he Devils are ranked 21st in the NHL on the penalty kill, but have been very successful as of late - they have not allowed a goal on the power play in their last four games (10-for-10) and 26 of their last 27 penalties over their last 11 games… The Flyers recalled defenseman Brandon Manning from the Phantoms yesterday - should he enter the line-up, it would be his fourth game of the season and first since a 3-2 win over Pittsburgh on Jan. 20 when he logged 17:20 which is the second-highest in his NHL career… Manning has one assist in three games… Mike Cammalleri leads the Devils in points (34) and 24 goals, a third of which are game-winning goals (8) which is tied for second among all NHL players… Cammalleri recently had his seven game point streak end in his last game - he had six goals and nine points in those eight games… The Flyers defense factored into both goals yesterday at Boston, recording two assists (Streit & Schultz) - the defense has now posted 15 goals and 44 points in their last 21 games .

Streit will look to extend his three-game point streak tonight after posting a goal and two assists in his previous three outings - it would be Streit’s fifth four-game point streak of the season (he does not have a five-game point streak yet this season)… Streit leads the Flyers defense with 43 points, which is also tied for eighth among all NHL blueliners, and leads the team in time-on-ice, averaging 22:18 per game… His 34 assists has tied his total output from last season and he is one point shy of matching his 44 points in 82 games in his first season as a Flyer last year… Streit has four assists through three games of the season series with the Devils this year.

S chneider has started 11 of the Devils last 12 games… He ranks second in the NHL with 57 appearances and 56 games started… He has 24 of the team’s 27 victories and is third among all goaltenders with a .928 save-percentage and fifth with a 2.18 goals-against average… Schneider owns an overall mark of 24-24-6 and a better record on home ice, going 13-9-6 with a 1.84 goals-against average and .933 save-percentage in 29 games at Prudential Center… He recently appeared in his 200th NHL game and is five wins shy of reaching 100 victories in the NHL (95-65-26)… He has started all three games against the Flyers this season, but has appeared in just four career games against Philly, going 2-2-0.
