FIVE THINGS: Flyers at New Jersey Devils

T he Flyers play the eighth and final game of their season-high road trip… In total they will have been on the road for a 16-day span (including the three-day holiday break) and will have traveled a total of 7,297 miles, including 4,646 miles in the second leg of the trip… They own a 3-3-1 record on this trip and have only been below .500 on the holiday trip once since 2005-06, when they went 3-5 in 2006-07… The Flyers have also earned a win in the last game of the trip in the last three seasons… Jakub Voracek leads the Flyers on the road trip so far with nine points (3g-6a), while Claude Giroux is second with eight points (5g-3a) and Mark Streit third with six assists in the seven games… Giroux suffered a lower-body injury in last night’s game at Carolina and is probable for tonight’s game .

B oth the Flyers and Devils come into tonight’s game playing the second in back to back nights… The Flyers own a 2-4-1 record in the second game, while the Devils own a mark of 2-4-2 in games on consecutive nights… In those second games in as many nights, Claude Giroux (2g-7a, 9pts) and Jakub Voracek (3g-8a, 11pts) have recorded a point in all seven contests, combining for 20 points through seven games… The Flyers are 27.3% on the power-play, while going 73.9% on the penalty-kill (17 of 23) in the second game… The Flyers met the Devils for the first time this season playing the second game in consecutive nights, dropping a 6-4 contest at the Wells Fargo Center… This is the third of four meetings with the Devils and first on the road - The teams split the first two games in Philadelphia .

T he Flyers are 12-1-1 when scoring four goals or more, but have gone 2-16-6 when scoring three goals or fewer… The Devils have not scored more than three goals in a game since Dec. 4, a span of 14 games, while reaching three goals just twice in that span… New Jersey is operating at over 90% on the penalty kill in the last 13 games, killing off 39 of 43 opportunities, but has scored just one goal on the power play in their last six games, going 1-for-19… Jaromir Jagr leads the Devils in scoring with 16 assists and 22 points in 39 games - he now has career totals of 1,777 points with 711 goals and 1,066 assists in 1,512 NHL games… Despite going scoreless in three of the last four games, Jakub Voracek continues to lead the NHL’s scoring race with 47 points, three points ahead of Stars’ Tyler Seguin… On Dec. 27, New Jersey restructured its coaching staff by adding Scott Stevens and Adam Oates… Head coach Peter DeBoer was relieved of their coaching duties .

V incent Lecavalier has five points (4g-1a) in the seven games of this road trip… Since being reinserted into the lineup, Lecavalier has seen his ice time grow from 11:48 in the first game to over 16 minutes (16:08) in last night’s game at Carolina… Playing on a line with Chris VandeVelde and Pierre-Edouard Bellmare, the three have combined for five goals and nine points on the road trip thus far… Overall on the season, Lecavalier has six goals and five assists for 11 points through 24 games - of his six goals, three are on the power play… Lecavalier has more points against the Devils than any other player on the Flyers roster with 17 goals and 29 assists for 46 points in 56 games - this season, he has a goal and an assist in one game.

Schneider has started five of the last six games for the Devils, and in his last six starts has a 1.82 goals-against average and .927 save percentage despite a 1-4-1 record… He owns 12 of the 13 victories on the season for New Jersey and has appeared in 35 of the 40 games for the Devils thus far… He set an all-time Devils record when he started 20 consecutive games from the beginning of the season (Oct.9 through Nov. 21)… He has started only three games against the Flyers, going 1-2-0 with a 3.03 GAA and .915 save percentage.
