FIVE THINGS: Flyers at Montreal Canadiens

T he Flyers enter tonight’s game having earned 11 out of a possible 12 points in the last six games, going 5-0-1… They are above the .500 mark at 23-22-8 for the first time since Nov. 16 (7-6-2), and are nine points behind the Bruins for the final playoff spot in the Conference… The Canadiens have won two straight games, outscoring their opponent, 9-3, and seven of their last nine to draw within two points to tie for the Eastern Conference lead… The Canadiens have the second-most wins on home ice in the Eastern Conference at 18-7-2, and have now played 436 consecutive home games in front of a sell-out crowd, including 397 in the regular season… The Flyers defense has recorded a goal in eight straight games and has produced nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points in that stretch… Montreal goaltender Carey Price has earned the last seven wins for the club, going 6-1-0 in his last seven starts with a 1.29 GAA and .958 save percentage .



T his is the third and final meeting against the Canadiens this season with the Flyers dropping the first two, going 0-1-1, with a combined 15 goals scored in the two games… Habs defenseman Andrei Markov leads players on both teams with five points (1g-4a), while Brayden Schenn (2g-1a) and Jakub Voracek (3a) lead the Flyers in scoring against Montreal… Voracek is the only Flyer who averages over a point per-game against the Canadiens, posting 13 assists and 16 points in 15 games, while Canadiens forward Alex Galchenyuk is the only Habs player to average over a point per-game against the Flyers with nine points (3g-6a) in seven career games… The Flyers have not gone winless against the Canadiens in the season series since the 2007-08 season (0-4-0) and just twice in the last 24 years (1988-89)… The Canadiens are one of two teams (Boston) in the NHL that the Flyers have an all-time losing record against at 70-78-30-5 .



T he Canadiens have a 14-2-1 record against teams from the Metropolitan Division, having won their last five games against the Metro… The Flyers own an even 7-7-2 mark against the Atlantic Division, having won their last three meetings, and five of their last six against the Atlantic… Jakub Voracek is tied for the NHL’s scoring race with 59 points (DAL: Seguin & CHI: Kane) but continues to lead all players in assists (41)… With an injury to Steve Mason, Ray Emery will get the start tonight in net, while an injury to Phantoms goaltender Rob Zepp brings in 21-year-old rookie Anthony Stolarz serving as back up - this is Stolarz first recall to the NHL… The Canadiens have not lost in regulation when tied after first (18-0-1) or second (7-0-2) period this season and own a 21–2-1 mark when scoring the first goal of the game… Defenseman Mark Streit and forward Ryan White both played for the Canadiens during their career .



S immonds continues to be hot for the Flyers… He scored the game-winning-goal in the Flyers’ 3-1 win at Washington to kick off the road trip, which also gave him five points in his last five games (3g-2a)… Simmonds leads the team in just about every goal-scoring department: overall goals (19), power-play goals (11) and game-winning-goals (5) through 53 games this year… Against the Canadiens, Simmonds has two goals in two games so far this season, but just four goals and six points in 15 career games against Montreal .


Pacioretty has been on a tear for the Canadiens… He has five points in his last three games (1g-4a) and has 10 goals and 17 points in his last 15 games… Of his 10 goals, four have been game-winners… He leads the Habs with 24 goals and 45 points, appearing in all 52 games for Montreal, and ranks second overall in the NHL with a plus-minus rating of +28… Against the Flyers, Pacioretty has 14 points (3g-11a) in 15 games, including two assists in two games of the season series this year.
