FIVE THINGS: Devils vs. Flyers

Tonight is the first of games on back-to-back nights for the Flyers, who will face the Sabres in Buffalo tomorrow night… It is also the first of six games which will be played in 10 days as the Flyers embark on a five-game, nine day road trip after tonight… The Flyers play their sixth and final home game of October tonight, going 3-1-1 in the previous five games… After dropping the first four games to the regular season, the Devils come into tonight’s game having won four of their last five games and are on a three-game winning streak on the road… The Flyers rank first overall in the NHL in fewest third period goals allowed (3), while the Devils are tied for the third most goals allowed in the third period (13)… Defenseman Mark Streit leads the Flyers in scoring with six points (2g-4a), while Mike Cammalleri leads the Devils with 11 points (3g-8a).
Tonight is just the second game against a Metropolitan Division opponent for the Flyers this season with their only other Metro opponent being the NY Rangers, a 3-2 shootout win on Oct. 24… The Devils play their fourth division opponent this season, going 1-2-0 so far… The Flyers and Devils face each other for the 195th time since the team moved to New Jersey from Colorado for the 1982-83 season… The Devils are looking for their 100th all-time win against the Flyers tonight… This is the first of four meetings against the Devils this season… The Flyers don’t face the Devils at home again until Feb. 13… Last season, the Flyers dropped three of four meetings against the Devils, going 1-3-0.
The Devils are unbeaten in regulation in one-goal games and have all four of their victories this year decided by one goal going 4-0-1… Five of their last six games have been one-goal games, including four that have gone past regulation play… The Flyers have had their last four games decided by one goal with three of those four games decided past regulation play, and six of their eight games on the season thus far have been one-goal games (3-1-2)… Overall, the Flyers and Devils have had eight games go past regulation play, five of the eight have been decided in overtime, rather than a shootout.
Laughton is currently riding a three-game point streak with a goal and two assists in that span… In his last outing, Laughton logged his most minutes of ice-time in his NHL career with 18:04, which is over three minutes more than any game played this season… He has a plus-minus rating of +2 so far this season, and in his eight games, has not had a minus rating, going even or better… Laughton has appeared in two career games against the Devils, going scoreless both times. Adam Henrique leads the team in scoring with six goals and ranks second with nine points through nine games this season… His six goals also tie him for sixth in the NHL… Henrique has logged over 21 minutes of ice time in his last six games and leads all Devils forwards in TOI at 20:51… He is also tied for the team lead in plus-minus at +3… Against the Flyers, Henrique scored three goals on three shots against the Flyers in the season series last year… Overall, he has nine goals and averages nearly a point per-game with 17 points in 15 career games to go along with a +14 rating against Philadelphia.
