In honor of the month that celebrates all things love, the Philadelphia Flyers are hosting a slew of special events and activities in the Philadelphia area as a way of saying “thanks” to their favorite Valentine—their fans. The team invites fans to get Flyer’d up this February with various giveaways, community events, alumni appearances, and more, as a part of Flyers Love Our Fans Month.
Monday, February 9 Pop-Up Pond Hockey with the Flyers, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Riverfront Rink Wilmington, 308 Justison Street, Wilmington, DE (Open to Public) The Flyers give a shout out to their Delaware fans by inviting youth hockey players ages 12 and under to join them at Wilmington’s new waterfront rink to play pick-up hockey with Flyers alumni including Bob “The Hound” Kelly and Todd Fedoruk. AAA Mid-Atlantic will also be on-hand with special ticket and autographed merchandise giveaways.
Tuesday, February 10 NHL Future Goals Kickoff, 1 p.m., Franklin D. Roosevelt Middle School, 1001 Veterans Highway, Bristol, PA (Open to Media) The Flyers and the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation are teaming up with the NHL to kick off the NHL and NHLPA Future Goals initiative in the Philadelphia area. This digital, interactive program helps middle school students build their science, technology, engineering, and math skills using the fast-paced, exciting game of hockey as a learning vehicle. As a part of the launch, Flyers alumni Bob “The Hound” Kelly and Todd Fedoruk will help debut brand-new computer software for the school to keep, as well as host students in a day of hockey clinics.
Friday, February 13 Valentine’s #FlyersDay, all day, various locations throughout Philadelphia and suburbs, (Open to Public) The cornerstone of Flyers Love Our Fans month, back by popular demand, #FlyersDay awards passionate fans and social media followers by asking the question “How can the Flyers make your day?” and delivering on numerous requests, no matter the degree of outrageousness. This special Valentine’s-themed #FlyersDay will feature Flyers orange roses and chocolates as an added bonus.
Monday, February 16 Flyers Lunchtime Skate Around, 12 p.m., Rothman Rink at Dilworth Park, Broad & Market Sts., West Side of City Hall, Philadelphia, PA (Open to Public) Fans can spend the lunch hour on-ice with the Flyers ice team and notable alumni. Special giveaways, and other activities will be featured. Skating admission is $3 for children, 10 and younger and $4 for adults. Skate rental is $8.
Tuesday, February 17 First ‘Philly’s Greatest Hockey Mom’ Honored, 7 p.m. Flyers vs. Columbus Blue Jackets home game, Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA The Flyers will recognize the inaugural mom into their Philly’s Greatest Hockey Mom collective. This recently-launched program recognizes those dedicated and passionate parents who go above and beyond, all in the name of hockey. The Flyers will present the evening’s Greatest Hockey Mom with a personalized jersey and will salute her on the video board during the game.
Thursday, February 19 Eric Desjardins Flyers Hall of Fame Induction, 7 p.m. Flyers vs. Sabres home game, Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA Fans in attendance at the evening’s Flyers Hall of Fame induction game will receive a special-edition Eric Desjardins poster.
Friday, February 20 – Saturday, February 21 Jakub Voracek Make-a-Wish Experience, (Open to Media) Jakub Voracek will honor the Make-a-Wish dream of ultra-Flyers Fan, 11-year-old Tony Campisi of Mechanicsburg, Pa. Campisi’s wish was simply to attend a game, but the team has upped the ante, inviting him to Friday morning practice in Voorhees, NJ (where he will suit up and play pick-up games on the ice with Voracek and other team members). Campisi will experience Saturday’s 1 p.m. game vs. the Nashville Predators in VIP fashion, entering the building through the players’ tunnel, watching warm-ups from the penalty box, sitting in Voracek’s suite, and meeting the team in the locker room following the game.
Saturday, February 21 Try Hockey for Free Day, all day, various locations, throughout Philadelphia and suburbs (Open to Public) Free hockey clinics will be available at all four Flyers Skate Zone locations (Atlantic City, NJ, Northeast Philadelphia, PA, Pennsauken, NJ, and Voorhees, NJ), as part of USA Hockey’s Try Hockey For Free Day. Local youths, four to nine years of age, are encouraged to experience ice hockey for the first time and learn basic skills in a fun, safe environment.
Saturday, February 21 Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Day, 1 p.m. Flyers vs. Nashville Predators home game, Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA During the Flyers vs. Predators matinee, season ticket holders can enjoy exclusive merchandise discounts, prizes, and giveaways. In addition, randomly selected season ticket holders will participate in the “Shirts Off Our Backs” promotion, winning a jersey worn by a member of the Flyers roster.
Sunday, February 22 Wear Your Youth Jersey Day, 3 p.m. Flyers vs. Washington Capitals home game, Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA Fans who wear their youth jerseys to the afternoon’s game will receive a discount off merchandise in the Fan Zone powered by Reebok store and at retail stands inside of the Wells Fargo Center. Special prizes and video board recognitions for those in youth jerseys are also planned.
Fans can also shake up their Valentine’s dates with the Flyers Valentine’s Pack, presented by Chaddsford Winery.
