The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have loaned goaltender Ray Emery to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, for conditioning purposes, and that he will return to the Flyers on Sunday, Jan. 10, according to club General Manager Paul Holmgren.
Emery will be available to play in tonight’s game for the Phantoms, who take on the Portland Pirates at 7 p.m. ET at the Glens Falls Civic Center, in Glens Falls, N.Y.
Emery, 27, missed the last 16 games with the Flyers due to injury and underwent successful surgery on Dec. 9 to repair a significant tear of his rectus abdominus on the left side of his lower stomach. Prior to that, Emery posted an 11-8-1 record with a 2.83 goals-against average and .901 save percentage, including one shutout, in 21 appearances with the Flyers in 2009-10.
